CPD requirements for Barristers & Solicitors

 

CPD is training or work undertaken over and above the normal commitments of barristers and solicitors with a view to such work developing their skills, knowledge and professional standards in areas relevant to their present or proposed area of practice, and in order to keep themselves up to date and maintain the highest standards of professional practice.  Over the years these schemes have evolved into a system guided by principles of simplicity and flexibility.

 

Both the Bar Council and The Lawyers' Society have compulsory CPD schemes for their membership.  Non-compliance of CPD requirements could lead to disciplinary procedures and/or delays in the issue of a current practising certificate.
